Tiddalik the Very Thirsty Frog is a retelling of a traditional Aboriginal Australian story. This tale captures the adventures of Tiddalik, a frog who drank all the water from the billabong, leaving other animals in dire need.

In the warm Australian bush, the sun rose over the gum trees, and the animals began their day. Laughter from kookaburras and the screeches of cockatoos filled the air as kangaroos moved through the grass.

Beside a quiet billabong, Tiddalik the frog awoke, feeling an overwhelming thirst. He hopped to the billabong and drank until the water was gone, leaving the environment parched.

The absence of water troubled the bush. Kangaroos, emus, lizards, and even ants found no water at the billabong. The animals confronted Tiddalik, who sat with a swollen belly, responsible for the dry land.

The animals knew they had to make Tiddalik laugh to return the water. Kookaburra, Kangaroo, and Emu tried their best, but Tiddalik remained unmoved. It was Snake, small and unnoticed, who finally made Tiddalik laugh with his twisty antics.

Tiddalik laughed so heartily that the water gushed out of him, replenishing the billabong.

The Lesson of Sharing

With water restored, the animals drank and celebrated. Tiddalik realized the importance of sharing resources with the community. He vowed to remember this lesson, ensuring water was left for everyone.
